Ladybug, Ladybug, Oh So Sweet -- Part One

For the sake of not overloading one post with a zillion pictures, this will be a three part series. As most of you know, Saturday we celebrated Addison's first birthday. We were one week early due to Scott's need to depart on Saturday night for a work trip.

I was curious to see how Addison handled the party. Would she even care about the cake? What about her presents? What if she didn't take a long enough nap before? I am so thrilled to say that it was a great day start to finish (minus Scott leaving at the end, of course). Addison was sparkly the whole time and she appreciated her presents far more than I expected, inspecting each one and showing great joy for many (more in Part Two on this). As for the cake, you'll just have to wait for Part Three. It will be worth it!

And now, to get started....Scott and I had fun decorating the house in ladybug style with banners, little ladybug decals, plates, etc. Scott also came up with the great idea of hanging some of Addison's artwork so we plastered the kitchen and hallway with some of her best work. (wink, wink...how can you tell the difference between her best and worst?) We topped it off with pink and green ballons and it set quite the fun party tone for our 'Little Lady'.

Addison started the day off right, sporting her 'Birthday Girl' shirt and her pink hair pretty.

The now infamous ladybug cake.

Addison's 'Happy Birthday, Addison' banners. They were made from the most beautiful paper that match the pink and green theme in her nursery. The Addison banner will hang over her crib long term. (you can click thru on this pic)

Some of the party decorations.

A collage we made for Addison's first year. There is one picture from each month of her first year. (you can click thru on this pic as well)

Up Next: Part Two (otherwise known as presents!)
